Seemingly Unmoved by His Son’s Online Outburst, Buju Banton Trods On With Long Walk to Freedom Concert, Tomorrow.

Rhythm City FM | March 15, 2019

Just one day away from the first concert event to celebrate his freedom, some three months after his release, Buju Banton faced fiery criticism overnight, this as his son, Markus, lashed out at the entertainer, in online Instagram posts.

Buju Banton’s highly anticipated first concert takes place at the Jamaica National Stadium tomorrow. The concert will see artistes like Chronixx, Ghost, Cocoa Tea, Singing Melody and Lust, Agent Sasco, Romain Virgo, Etana and Buju’s son Jahazeil, share the stage with the ‘Hills and Valleys’ singer. Overnight, Markus Myrie, one of Buju’s 17 children, lashed out at his father, even threatening to press charges against his father. His sentiments, presumably expressed in a fit of rage, were posted on IG stories, with the young music producer resorting to calling his father a “coke head” among other harsh expressions. He expressed hurt, saying that his mother had not raised him to allow anyone to speak to him in any untoward manner, further saying that he had no need to ask his father for anything.

Thus far, Buju’s team has yet to comment on the situation, even as many media outlets have ran with the story- many questioning the reason for the outburst. The Long Road to Freedom Tour meanwhile, continues to be a highly anticipated concert event in Jamaica tomorrow. Security for the event is said to be high- Marlon Burke of Solid Agency saying, security for the event will be one of the highest in concert history. Among the high profile names already on the island of Jamaica, ahead of the concert event tomorrow are DJ Khaled and Shyne.
